The attention, care, and willingness to truly understand our vision made a deep impression on us. After years of being overlooked and unheard by local agencies in Brussels, experiencing such warmth, respect, and support feels both refreshing and deeply encouraging.

Being welcomed, accompanied, and genuinely believed in reminds us why we do what we do. It gives energy, confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Building the first 100% Hainan premium bean-to-bar chocolate

Haikou, the Coconut City, is a place where land, sea, and human intention meet with rare harmony. At the northern gateway of Hainan Island, this city has long been shaped by exchange, of goods, cultures, and ideas, and today it stands at the heart of the Hainan Free Trade Port and the Belt and Road Initiative. Yet beyond its strategic role and growing economic strength, Haikou carries something less measurable but deeply powerful: a sense of openness, patience, and respect for origins.

It is precisely this spirit that resonates with our project. In a region blessed with fertile soil, tropical biodiversity, and a rich agricultural heritage, we see the possibility of creating something truly unique: the first premium bean-to-bar chocolate crafted entirely from Hainan Island. Not only cacao beans grown on local land, but every ingredient, every topping, every aromatic note sourced from the island itself; coconuts, fruits, spices, textures shaped by this climate and this culture. A chocolate that tells the story of Hainan, from the earth to the bar.

Haikou offers the ideal environment for such a vision to grow. Its role as a transport and innovation hub connects tradition with modernity, while its commitment to sustainable development and international openness encourages projects rooted in authenticity and long-term value. Here, craftsmanship can coexist with scale, and patience can meet ambition.

As we walk along its coastal promenades, through historic streets and emerging districts, it becomes clear that Haikou is not simply a place to produce, it is a place to belong. There is still no truly premium bean-to-bar chocolate in China. Not yet. And that simple fact carries both immense promise and an enormous challenge. Expectations are high. The scale is overwhelming. We are very small, and China is vast. But we know one thing with absolute certainty: we know how to make exceptional chocolate.

The decision is made. And once made, there is no halfway. We will give this everything we have our time, our energy, our doubts, our stubbornness, and our craft. It is bold, a little crazy, and yes, slightly terrifying. Which is precisely why it feels right.

Brussels has become comfortable. Maybe too comfortable. A little too predictable, a little too quiet. Comfort is a beautiful thing, but it is not where ambition grows. We need a wider horizon, a sharper challenge, something that forces us to rethink, relearn, and move forward with urgency and intention.

Becoming the first Belgian chocolate makers to create truly premium, origin-driven bean-to-bar chocolate in China is that challenge. It demands humility, courage, and long-term commitment. It asks us to step outside what we know, while staying absolutely faithful to what we believe in.

From now on, this is where our communication will focus. Because our future, and honestly, our very existence, has always been shaped by choices like this. By moments where the world suddenly feels vast, alive, demanding, and incredibly attractive.

En traversant Haikou, Entre l'air marin et les rues baignées de soleil, l'idée a peu à peu pris forme. Non pas comme une stratégie, ni comme une annonce, mais comme le prolongement naturel de tout ce que nous avions ressenti, appris et partagé. 🌴🍫

Après les plantations de cacao de Xinglong et la confiance tissée au fil du temps, il est devenu évident que cette histoire méritait un lieu d'accueil. Un lieu où l'artisanat pourrait être vu, ressenti et compris.

Dans Nouvelle zone de Haikou Jiangdong, Nous allons ouvrir un nouvel espace, une boutique, un atelier et un atelier-vivant. Un lieu où les visiteurs sont invités à découvrir les coulisses, où les mains rencontrent les ingrédients et où la transparence devient expérience. En son cœur, une petite usine prendra forme, fabriquant… premier chocolat premium bean-to-bar de Hainan, Fabriqué entièrement à partir des ressources propres de l'île.

Il ne s'agira pas d'échelle ni de rapidité, mais de sens. De montrer comment le cacao de Xinglong se transforme en chocolat, étape par étape, avec patience et sincérité. De reconnecter les gens à l'origine, au processus et au goût.
