The attention, care, and willingness to truly understand our vision made a deep impression on us. After years of being overlooked and unheard by local agencies in Brussels, experiencing such warmth, respect, and support feels both refreshing and deeply encouraging.

Building the first 100% Hainan premium bean-to-bar chocolate
It is precisely this spirit that resonates with our project. In a region blessed with fertile soil, tropical biodiversity, and a rich agricultural heritage, we see the possibility of creating something truly unique: the first premium bean-to-bar chocolate crafted entirely from Hainan Island. Not only cacao beans grown on local land, but every ingredient, every topping, every aromatic note sourced from the island itself; coconuts, fruits, spices, textures shaped by this climate and this culture. A chocolate that tells the story of Hainan, from the earth to the bar.
Haikou offers the ideal environment for such a vision to grow. Its role as a transport and innovation hub connects tradition with modernity, while its commitment to sustainable development and international openness encourages projects rooted in authenticity and long-term value. As we walk along its coastal promenades, through historic streets and emerging districts, it becomes clear that Haikou is not simply a place to produce, it is a place to belong. Walking through the cacao plantation of Xinglong, hidden within the botanical reserve. Something shifted.
Quietly, unmistakably. As we spoke with the plantation’s director, an energy passed hand to hand, word to word. Nothing rushed, nothing forced, just a shared understanding. A moment when a vision stops being an idea and becomes a calling.
Standing among these trees, the path became clear: our future premium bean-to-bar chocolates will be crafted using Xinglong cacao, born from this island, shaped by its soil, climate, and time. Nothing imported. Nothing added. Only what belongs.
For now, the harvest is modest, fragile, almost a whisper. But every honest story begins this way. The next step is faith: growing together, welcoming devoted farmers, and expanding gently, with patience and respect for people and nature.

The decision is made. And once made, there is no halfway. We will give this everything we have our time, our energy, our doubts, our stubbornness, and our craft. It is bold, a little crazy, and yes, slightly terrifying. Which is precisely why it feels right.
Brussels has become comfortable. Maybe too comfortable. A little too predictable, a little too quiet. Comfort is a beautiful thing, but it is not where ambition grows. We need a wider horizon, a sharper challenge, something that forces us to rethink, relearn, and move forward with urgency and intention.
Becoming the first Belgian chocolate makers to create truly premium, origin-driven bean-to-bar chocolate in China is that challenge. It demands humility, courage, and long-term commitment. It asks us to step outside what we know, while staying absolutely faithful to what we believe in.

Walking through Haikou, between sea air and sun-washed streets, the idea slowly took shape. Not as a strategy, not as an announcement, but as the natural continuation of everything we had felt, learned, and shared. 🌴🍫
After the cacao fields of Xinglong and the trust built along the way, it became clear that this story needed a home. A place where craft could be seen, felt, and understood.
In Haikou Jiangdong New Area, we will open a new space, a store, a workshop, and a living atelier. A place where visitors are invited behind the scenes, where hands meet ingredients, and where transparency becomes experience. At its heart, a small factory will take shape, crafting the first premium bean-to-bar chocolate of Hainan, made entirely from the island’s own resources.
This will not be about scale or speed, but about meaning. About showing how Xinglong cacao transforms into chocolate, step by step, patiently and honestly. About reconnecting people with origin, process, and taste.
